Knaresborough Castle was built around 1100 by a Norman baron on a cliff above the River Nidd. In the 1170s Hugh de Moreville and his followers took refuge there after assassinating Thomas Beckett.
On the sunny Sunday we photographed, a quartet was playing alonside the rear of the Castle providing a musical backdrop to a pleasant afternoon.
The Bowling Green was strangely unoccupied on such a sunny afternoon?
The Old Court House Museum can be seen from this point at the far side of the green.
